MIRIARN BEN-YAACOV, a native of South Africa, is a poet and fiction writer who graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha Writers' Workshop. During her late teens and early 20s she lived in Israel, where she met her husband. They have lived in Omaha for the last 18 years. Ms Ben-Yaacov has published both fiction and poetry, her work appearing in Nexus, Short Story International, Nebraska English Journal, The Long Story, Smackwarm, Metropolitan, and elsewhere, and has participated in local readings. Her writing reflects life in the Midwest and her South African and Eastern European Jewish heritage. She lives in Omaha and is a winner of two Merit Awards from the Nebraska Arts Council's Individual Artists Fellowships program (1997 and 2006).
