GEORGE SHAFFNER,
the son of a West Point man, grew up all over the South and lived for years in Nebraska.
He is the author of several books, including the novel
In the Land of Second Chances (Algonquin Books, 2004),

The Arithmetic of Life (Random House, 1999).
He lives in Sammamish, Washington.
One Part Angel, the sequel to
