Poet SABA RAZVI is currently an ABD doctoral candidate in the PhD Program in Literature & Creative Writing at the University of Southern California, where she earned a MA in English, and where she has studied poetry with Carol Muske-Dukes, David St. John, & Susan McCabe, and fiction with Percival Everett, TC Boyle, & Aimee Bender. I also hold a MA in English & Creative Writing from the University of Texas in Austin, where I studied poetry with Naomi Shihab Nye, Khaled Mattawa, Judith Kroll, & Thomas Whitbread, and fiction with Jim Magnuson. I received a BA in English & Creative Writing from Creighton University, where I studied poetry with Eamonn Wall & Fidel Fajardo-Acosta, and fiction with Brent Spencer and Mary Helen Stefaniak. Iíve been the recipient of a James A. Michener Fellowship, a Fania Kruger Fellowship, and a Virginia C Middleton Fellowship on the basis of merit of my poetry. I have also given poetry readings and participated on panels on poetics through Writerís Harvest, Coleís, The Loudest Voice, the British Society for Literature and Science, SoundEye West: Poetry Between Languages, and at Stirling Universityís Poetry & Translation International Conference. My poetry has appeared in Diner, Karamu, Anthology, The Homestead Review, 10x3 plus, 13th Warrior Review, The Arbor Vitae Review, Arsenic Lobster, and in the anthology Voices of Resistance: Muslim Women on War Faith and Sexuality (Seal Press 2006). Lately, in addition to writing my doctoral dissertation on interfaces between science and contemporary poetry, I am studying sufi poetry in translation and working on my third poetry book manuscript.
