JOSEPH R PHELAN was born in Van Nuys, California, in 1943 and spent his childhood in Nebraska in Norfolk and Pawnee City. Moved back to Los Angeles area in 1957. He lived and worked around San Francisco in the computer industry as a programmer and consultant, retiring in 1999 and moving back to Pawnee City, Nebraska, in December 2006 and bought my grandparents last home which he is currently restoring. The past few years I have been working on collections of short stories centered on Christmas and his childhood in Nebraska. He is also working on "bio-fiction" novel(s) about his experiences in the '60s. He still reads the beat poets and writers for inspiration and guidance and continues to write poetry and fiction. His favorite poetry is the classic old Chinese poetry starting with Tao Chien. |
