At last a collection of poems by Nancy Westefield makes her work available
and provides a more complete and powerful impression of the drama,
tenderness, and the wrenching spirit of her work. ... [I]t is
unquestionably a woman's perspective but not, as editor Helen Winter
Stauffer confirms in her introduction, a typically modern feminist view.
Stauffer applies the term metaphysical to Westerfield's poems and that is
an apt description. Certainly there is in them the mysterious, the
enigmatic, the incongruous. They are tersely written, unostentatiously,
