Poet and librettist NANCY MCCLEERY. Her six poetry collections are Girl Talk (The Backwaters Press, 2002), Blown Roses (handset letterpress chapbook with linocuts by Jaime Hackbart, 2001), Polar Lights (Transient Press, 1994), Staying The Winter (handset letterpress book by Master Printer Harry Duncan, The Cummington Press, 1987), Postcards from London (with photographs by Julie Baugnet,The Red Press, 1985), and Night Muse (handset letterpress chapbook, Uintah Press, 1981). Among her several collaborations with composer Robert Walters, the Musical Theatre Piece, A Gift From The River was performed in 2005 with lead singers from The Metropolitan Opera House and The University of Nebraska School of music. While in Alaska, 1977-1988, thirty of her poems were part of Rums and Ruins, a Multi Media Piece comprised of Dance, Visual Art, and Video. In the 1990's she collaborated with theatre directors, musicians and visual artists in Lincoln, Nebraska. She taught at the college level in both Anchorage, Alaska, and in Tarkio, Missouri, was an Artist in Schools and Communities for both Alaska and Nebraska Arts Councils, a Mentor with the Highly Gifted for LPS, and a Speaker for Nebraska Humanities Council. She is the recipient of three Literary Fellowship Awards (Alaska Arts Council 1981 and 1986, and Nebraska Arts Council 1995). Nancy holds an MA with Creative Thesis (poems) from the University of Nebraska — Lincoln where she studied with poets Greg Kuzma, Bill Kloeflcorn, and fiction writer Warren Fine. She has been listed in A Directory of American Poets and Fiction Writers since 1976 and has traveled widely calling many places home with Nebraska the longest and strongest influence. Nancy currently lives in Lincoln teaching privately. She is the parent of daughter Robin and son David, both of Lincoln, two granddaughters and two great grandsons.
