Poet and playwright KATIE F-S hosts The Encyclopedia Show: Omaha. Best known as a performance poet and founder of the Epicene Furies, a troupe dedicated to startling choral performance, Katie is earning her MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University because, as she puts it, "genres are for suckas." She has performed in poetry slams on Teams Omaha, Denver, and Des Moines, and performed from Minneapolis to Austin, Albuquerque to Worcester. Her work has been published in Slamma Lamma Ding Dong: An Anthology of Nebraska's Slam Poets, Denver's 90 Proof, and most recently in Rattle's Tribute to Slam Poetry. She's the author of two plays: IN:VERSE and Girl on Girl, which won the 2000 Barbara Lounsberry Award for Best Creative Non-Fiction. Her three favorite things are bikeriding, ice cream, and transforming verbs into nouns by adding -ery as a suffix (i.e., transformery).
