RICHARD DUGGIN was raised in New England,
but has lived in Omaha
for that past thirty-six years or so. He holds a bachelor's degree in literature and writing
from the University of New Hampshire, the MFA degree in fiction
writing from the University of Iowa Writer's Workshop, and he has published a novel,
The Music Box Treaty, and
fiction in numerous periodicals. He is the founder of the UNOmaha Writer's Workshop,
a BFA degree program in creative writing housed within the College of Fine Arts, one of
the few such programs in the country. His work has been cited by Best
American Short Stories, Pushcart Prize Anthology, and Playboy
Magazine Best Fiction. He received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, two
Nebraska Arts Council Merit Awards, and has been awarded several
artist's residencies at Ragdale and Yaddo. He has recently completed
a second novel, Woman Refusing to Leave, a two-act stage play,
Private Matters, and he is currently at work on a third novel,
Snipehunters. An occasional actor, he has performed in a number Omaha
theater productions, including Taming of the Shrew, Our Town, Dancing
at Lughnasa, and Hold Me.
