JENNIFER BRANTLEY was born and grew up on a tobacco farm in North Carolina. She received her BA from Wake Forest University. She then moved to Kansas and received her M.A. from Kansas State. Afterwards, she lived for three years in southern Louisiana, where many of her poetry ideas originated among the hurricanes, swamps, and Cajun culture. She is now a PhD candidate in the English Department at the University of Nebraska — Lincoln, teaching beginning composition, women's literature, and poetry. She has been a winner of the American Poetry Award and completed a dissertation in the traditions and patterns of storytelling in three 20th-century southern women writers, while attending the University of Nebraska — Lincoln.
