Poet DENISE BANKER graduated from the University of Nebraska — Lincoln, Concordia University, Nebraska, and took her PhD from the University of Nebraska — Lincoln, where she was awarded the Academy of American Poets Award, The Louise VanSickle Award for Creative and Academic Achievement, and the Dudley Bailey Fellowship. Her work has appeared in The ALAN Review, National Council of Teachers of English; Times of Sorrow Times of Grace (Backwaters Press); Crazy Woman Creek (Houghton/Mifflin); Potato Eyes Literary Arts Journal, Prairie Schooner, and Plains Song Review. She is the author of Swimming the Colorado (Empty Bowl Press, 2012). She is a private tutor in Seattle, WA.
