The Tutors
As Tutors for the Writing Center, we have dedicated time and effort to helping students, all students, improve their writing. Whether the writing is personal, professional, or academic, we use our experience to help students fashion their writing to better meet their goals. And just in case you find yourself wondering, "who the heck are these guys?," here's a little bit more about each of us.

Helen
"How to summarize this work that I love.... Ideally, I believe, that a situation in the Writing Center is one of learning and listening -- one that allows students to own their writing. By asking questions and asking students to articulate their ideas, I hope to guide them to the tasks needed for revision of their work and to meet their immediate goals. It is satisfying seeing students learn by drawing on their own insights on better writing." |

"Alison Friedow is a graduate fellow notable for her ability to listen, her good spirit, and her keen commitment. Sadly, she is in need of a better selection of t-shirts. In spite of this, the Writing Center is thrilled to have Alison share her genuine ability and care with its clients. " |

Melissa

Monica
"As a tutor in the Writing Center, I find it very exciting to have the opportunity to meet other students and share in the writing process. I have discovered that I benefit from spending time in the Writing Center more than I can say in a short paragraph. However, I love seeing people smile and I find it intriguing to share ideas and witness the expression of those ideas. I've also been known to enjoy ice cream, snow boarding, and listening to The Films (the best band ever)." |

"Every student who visits the Writing Center teaches me something, whether it is about writing, communication, or even neurobiology, and I try to return the favor by giving them ways to improve their already unique and interesting papers. When students leave the Writing Center breathing more easily and feeling more confident about their work than when they entered, it makes the time and thought put into tutoring more than worthwhile." |

Bryan
"I completed the Master's program here at Creighton, studying English (Composition and Rhetoric). I began working with Creighton's Writing Center in the Fall of 2004 and enjoy every minute of it =). When I'm not studying, writing, or working here, I like to hit the gym, chill at Caffeine Dreams, or grab the gang and catch a movie. And one of my favorite quotes about writing comes from Ms. Dorothy Parker -- '[Writing] is the art of applying one's ass to the seat!' While her advice may seem somewhat harsh, I believe making the decision to write is the first step of many." |

Andrew
