The "coffeehouses," usually held in the CA Conference Room, give English majors & minors, members of the faculty & staff, and anyone else who wishes to come the chance to casually converse with one another (cookies, tea and coffee are provided).
In addition to these "coffeehouses," we meet informally and formally once a month. Informal meetings are optional and are usually held at a restaurant in Omaha's Old Market. We also sponsor various poetry and prose readings held at both on and off campus locations. Faculty, students, and others from around the community come to read and listen to poetry and prose at these events. We read our own original works and the works of more . . . recognized authors.
One of our most popular and important events in the fall, the Writer's Harvest, is a reading done in conjunction with the national organization, Share Our Strength. At this reading, we raise money and collect canned food items for SOS in order to help feed the hungry.
If you're interested in participating in or attending any of these events, please take a look at our calendar. You can also contact our faculty advisor, Dr. Fidel Fajardo-Acosta , or any of our officers.
