Hill Fort

This mound is known as Cormac's House. It is one of a number of mounds contained within the royal enclosure of Tara (Teamhair) in Co. Meath. Notice the earthen embankments below the mound. Tara is not a typical ring fort in terms of its significance, but its construction is very similar to the smaller ancient enclosures scattered all over eastern and central Ireland.
