M.A. in Literature
The literature track is the foundation of the graduate English curriculum. Combining period-specific seminars with foundation and practicum courses, this program of study may be used to develop strengths or explore new areas. Preparation for further study, a faculty ready to mentor, and opportunities for beginning professional success and distinction characterize this track.

Eng. 703: Seminar in Renaissance Literature
Eng. 705: Seminar in Neoclassical Literature
Eng. 707: Seminar in Romantic Literature
Eng. 709: Seminar in Victorian Literature
Eng. 711: Seminar in American Literature to 1865
Eng. 713: Seminar in American Literature 1865-1914
Eng. 715: Seminar in 20th-Century English and American Literature
Eng. 717: Seminar in Irish Literature
Eng. 722: Seminar in Rhetorical Theory(On petition, the candidate may substitute up to two Studies courses in lieu of seminar requirements.)
III Required Capstone Courses (6 hours)Eng. 798: Master's Thesis or Three-Paper Option
Supervised Teaching Practicum (one of the following): Eng. 680, 681, 682, 683 (click for more information)
IV Additional RequirementsComprehensive Examination
