FUNDING

Fellowships
"Poor" doesn't necessarily need to precede "grad student." At Creighton, you can apply for a fellowship award. Partial funding covers your tuition and full funding also gives each fellow a stipend to cover most living costs. Not too shabby. If a full fellow, you will work with one or two faculty members doing a variety of research-related tasks. Check with one of our graduate directors for more information. How do you apply? Contact one of the graduate directors to see if you qualify.

Fellowship Adviser
Who decides whom I work with? Depending on your literature interests, you should choose a fellowship advisor whose expertise falls into one of these areas. Click here to find out what our faculty is up to. (Link to prof's and areas of study). If you're more interested in copyediting or other types of literature related work, get creative and find a job that will help you after grad school is over.

Where to Pick Up My Check
OK, you've done the work, now where's the payoff? In order to receive your first fellowship check, you must go to Creighton's Payroll Office, located on 20th & California Streets. From there on, you can ask to sign up for automatic deposits.

W-2's
By federal law, your employer must send out W2s by January 31st. Assuming your local address is correct, you should receive yours in the mail no later than the 1st week of February. Double-check your personal info with the Payroll office.

Fees Not Covered
Fellowships are a good deal but someone has to pay for all those ILL requests you submitted last semester. And that person happens to be you. Even fully-funded fellows pay an approx. $300 Student Fee / semester. The costs go toward things like your 'free' membership to the fitness center. Parking will cost another $75.

Creighton Student Union (CSU) Graduate Funding
You just got accepted to your first conference. Now how are you doing to pay for the ticket, hotel and food? The CSU sets aside $5,000 each semester for graduate students to present at conferences. It's first come, first serve so move fast. Download the application online. http://www.creighton.edu/csu/forms.html
