  Blazes O'Blather
The O’Blather and his son, Blazes O’Blather emerged with the publication of another magazine of O’Nolan’s creation, Blather. Blather began in 1934 as a monthly magazine (of which there were only five editions) (Asbee 9). The magazine emerged on the scene claiming to devote itself exclusively to the neglected subject of clay-pigeon shooting in Ireland. Marketing the magazine, O’Nolan (under the pseudonym, The O’Blather) writes:

As we advance to make our bow, you will look in vain for signs of servility or for any evidence of a slavish desire to please. We are an arrogant and a depraved body of men. We are as proud as bantams and as vain as peacocks. Blather doesn’t care…Blather has no principles, no honour, no shame. Our objects are the fostering of graft and corruption in public life, the furtherance of cant and hypocrisy, the encouragement of humbug and hysteria, the glorification of greed and gombeeism…Write to us for the address of your nearest Blather Study Circle. Write to us for a free cut-out pattern of the BlatherPatent Woolen Panties and say good-bye to colds. Write to us for our pamphlet, “The Blather Attitude on Ping-Pong” (Asbee 9).

The five issues of Blather devoted itself to the ludicrous with The O’Blather as the primary writer and his idiotic son, Blazes O’Blather often gracing the magazine pages, as well.
