| John
James Doe developed as the featured columnist
in A Weekly Look Around, which
was a column published in the Southern
Star, Skibbereen. The column was largely
a commentary of the minute events of the
week. The audience of A Weekly Look
Around were rural Irishmen. With this
in mind, Doe often voiced xenophobic comments,
which were much in line with the attitudes
of the rural citizens (White 72). John James
Doe "never managed to become a person
in his own right" (Green v). As a result
of this, Doe's column was patchy and it
barely saw a second year of publication
(Green v). |
