| Brian
O’Nolan was the birth name of the
author commonly known as Flann O’Brien.
First, a note about the previous sentence.
Brian O’Nolan actually was not the
birth name, rather it was Brian O Nuallain.
However, the name is anglicized to read
Brian O’Nolan, the name which English
speakers commonly refer to as his birth
name. In his literary endeavors O’Nolan
rarely used his own name, although he wrote
a well-received letter to the editor of
the Irish Times, lambasting Sean
O’Faolain and Frank O’Connor
(Gass vi). O’Nolan also used the Irish
version of his name to contribute to his
magazine, Comhthrom Feinne. |
