Goals, Contributions, and Motives of significant people in Irish History
This webpage provides a detailed outlook of some prominent members throughout Irish History. One important event is the contributions of the Irish Citizens Army and the Volunteers in the Easter Rising. In addition to these two pillars that sought for Irish Independence, the Irish Citizens Army and the Volunteers were each striving toward their own goal. However, they were also enemies until they joined forces to defeat the British in the 1916 Easter Rising. In relation to the Irish Citizen's Army, Constance Markievicz showed her bravery in joining their forces. Markievicz's goal was not only to be a leader of the Hunger Strike and women's movement, but another important contribution was her dedication to the Irish Citizen's Army. Lastly, James Stephens is infamous for his book entitled The Insurrection in Dublin. Within this book, Stephens describes the events of the Easter Rising, but also mentions the citizens' reactions to the Volunteers. Further investigation regarding Stephens' opinions of the Volunteers are discovered outside of the text.
