This quiz will cover the historical and textual background associated with the Arthurian legends and the assigned reading from Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur. In your study you should emphasize information in your class notes and in the course's online outlines and chronologies:

Notice that you are ONLY responsible for dates, names and events brought up in class (you DON'T need to memorize all the material in the online chronologies). For the purposes of this quiz you should pay particular attention to relevant historical events and figures of the mid-eleventh to the early thirteenth century, and also the backdrop of the Celtic resistance to the Picts and the Anglo-Saxons in the fifth and sixth centuries.

Also make sure to consult the study outline on the Arthurian legends and their textual history (pay special attention to authors, texts and dates mentioned in class):

Regarding Le Morte d'Arthur, you should be familiar with basic information on its date of composition, author, form and language, as well as the plot, characters and situations described in the portions of the text that were assigned as reading.

Notice the quizzes will cover only factual information and not matters of interpretation. You should expect both multiple choice and short answer questions. 15 minutes will be allowed for the quiz
