Services to Siblings of Adoptees

If your mother or father placed a child in adoption through Catholic Charities, and you wish to pursue contact, our staff will assist you. Sibling reunions are listed in Nebraska statutes, and after the adoptee has filed his Request for Access and the sibling has filed a consent, the Bureau provides the name and address of the sibling to the adoptee. We will act as intermediaries in this case, and we encourage you first to review this with your parent if possible. We encourage you to consult the web pages directed at birth parents and adoptees where you will find information on the issues you may encounter.

If the adopted person declines this contact, our staff will abide by that decision, but will make certain that the adoptee knows how to contact us if in time he or she is willing to proceed.

What Does This Cost?

The fee for a full search for birth relatives is $400.00. This fee applies whether or not the search results in a reunion. Often many hours go into locating birth relatives, and acting as intermediaries. If the flat fee of $400.00 is prorated per hour it often turns out to be very nominal.
