THEODORE WHEELER is a poet and fiction writer whose short story "Your Raisins Are Just Dead Grapes" was selected for inclusion in the 2009 edition of Best New American Voices, edited by John Kulka of Yale University Press and novelist Natalie Danford. It will be published by Harcourt/Harvest Books. The story was selected by guest editor Mary Gaitskill and nominated by Anne Greene, director of the Wesleyan Writers Conference at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where Wheeler was a Joan Jakobson Scholarship award-winner. He also is a recent winner of Boulevard's Short Fiction Contest for Emerging Writers. His story "The Scythian Defense" appeared in the GSU Review (Fall 2006). Another story, "Soldier in an Airport," appears in the debut issue of Superstition Review (Spring 2008). He is the Web Editor of Prairie Schooner and is at work on a short story collection and a novel. He and his wife Nicole live with their daughter, Madeleine, in Omaha, and are expecting their second child.
