Bestselling novelist NICHOLAS SPARKS
was born in Omaha in 1966 and raised for the most part in
southern California. A passionate runner, he attended the University of
Notre Dame on a full track scholarship, where he broke the Notre Dame
record in the 4x800 relay, a record that still
stands. While recuperating from a running injury, he began to write.
He has held many jobs, including real estate appraiser, waiter,
pharmaceutical rep, and for a time he sold dental products by phone.
Sparks is the best-selling author of The
Notebook, Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember,
The Rescue, and A Bend in the Road (Warner). His most recent novel
is True Believer. His books have
been translated into thirty different languages. Several of them have been
made into feature films.
He lives in New Bern, North Carolina, with his wife and children.
