Reneé Fajardo-Anstine is an attorney by training, a graduate of the University of Nebraska Law School and a long-term resident of Nebraska.
After spending several years working with inner city children and homeless families she decided that her first love,
writing was a more effective way to use her skills. In 1996, the mother of seven, decided to write her first children's book based on cultural family foods.
She turned her passion for working with children and young adults into a career as she began to teach writing, workshops and storytelling seminars. Today Ms
Fajardo is the co-author of four multi-cultural children's books: Holy Mole Guacamole (And Other Tummy Tales), Pinch A Lotta Enchiladas (And Other Tummy
Tales), Chili Today, Hot Tamale (And Other Tummy Tales), and Ole! Posole! (And Other Tummy Tales). Fajardo is also featured in the
Chicken Soup for the Latino Soul. She teaches storytelling, poetry, creative writing and fiction and non-fiction workshops.
Her poetry has been published in Savage Review.
She also writes for various publications profiling artist and Native peoples, and for
Edible Front Range, Camino, Five Magazine, La Voz, and News From Indian Country.
She presented "Return of the Corn Mothers," a photo journal exhibition of Southwestern Women, at the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History.
She and her family now live in Denver, Colorado.
