Here's to Kent Haruf's Eventide, just out from Alfred A Knopf,
the sequel to his National Book Award finalist Plainsong.
Once again the author takes us back into the plainspoken lives of the McPheron brothers
and into the lives of the other residents of Holt, Colorado.
Like its predecessor, Eventide is at bottom a novel about
finding solace in simple things like truth, honesty, and character.
Haruf writes with quiet grace and deep respect for these people and their
hardscrabble lives.
Kent Haruf is a graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University, where he taught for a time,
before teaching at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He now lives and writes
full-time in Colorado. For more information about the author, visit his profile on this
