MONICA KERSHNER
jokes that she has had a twenty-four-year love affair with Nebraska.
A Nebraska native, Kershner keeps threatening to leave for school,
but always stays ... until recently, that is, when she moved to Denver.
She received her BA and MA
from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Her first book, Watching Her Poems Melting in the Rain,
was a collection of poetry written at age eighteen. She's also the author
of Parts. Her most recent chapbook is
Gathering: 3 Works in Progress (Morpo Press).
Poems, "On Being Indian in the 21st Century" and "Urban, 2001,"

She has worked as a legal secretary and has taught at two area
universities, spending her free time
working with young poets in the Omaha area. She is
working on a series of readings called "Poets Attack" featuring
poets ages 14-18. She is the founder of and was the emcee for
Omaha's Quarterly Poetry Slam,
but will soon be moving to Denver,
where she hopes to pursue a degree in creative writing at Denver
University.
