SUSANNE GEORGE-BLOOMFIELD is a full professor and holds the
Martin Distinguished Professorship at the
University of Nebraska Kearney. Her poetry has been
published in the Nebraska Poets Calendar (1996), The Platte
River: An Atlas of the Big Bend Region (1993), Nebraska
English Journal (1989), The Sandhills and Other Geographies,
A Hard Row to Hoe, Cattails and Meadowlarks, and Skiing
magazine. She is the author, most recently, of
Impertinences: Selected Writings of Elia Peattie, A Journalist in the
Gilded Age (University of Nebraska Press, 2005).
She has also co-edited The Platte
River: An Atlas of the Big Bend Region (1993), A Prairie Mosaic: An Atlas of Central
Nebraska’s Land, Nature, and Culture (2000), A Presidential Visit (2002), and
co-authored From the Beginning: A History of Excellence at the University of
Nebraska at Kearney (2005). Her other books include
The Adventures of the
Woman Homesteader: The Life and Letters of Elinore Pruitt
Stewart, published in 1992 by the University of Nebraska Press.
In 1996, she edited and published Wellsprings: Poems by Six
Nebraska Poets (U of Nebraska Kearney). Her newest book is
Kate M Cleary, A Literary Biography
with Selected Works/ (U of Nebraska P, 1997).
She is the editor of The
Platte Valley Review.
In addition to writing
and teaching, she also raises paint horses.
