JAMES ENGELHARDT
was raised in Western North Carolina, but has come to love the prairie almost as much as the mountains he grew up with. Recently, his poems have appeared in
Lilies and Cannonballs Review, Hawk and Handsaw, Paddlefish, Painted Bride Quarterly, and Alligator Juniper. He has work forthcoming in
Isotope, and The Fourth River. His critical work has appeared in The Journal of the Midwest Modern Language Association.
His ecopoetry manifesto can be found at octopusmagazine.com. He lives in Lincoln, pursuing a PhD in poetry. His
ecocritical and place-based research interests have lead him to his current book project: a history of Lincoln in poetry, tentatively titled City of Wind, City
of Salt. His next project will be a collection of essays about board games. He is the Managing Editor of Prairie Schooner.
