BARBARA ANN DUSH writes for Fullerton, Nebraska's Nance County Journal under the name Barbara A Micek. Growing up in Clarks and Fullerton, she writes nonfiction based on her family experiences. Her award-winning newspaper stories have ranged from a focus on cancer victims to the origins of small nebraska towns, to numerous series on the homeless, Holocaust survivors and abuse survivors. Other reports include women who served in World War II, a Vietnam soldier killed in action, and AIDS patients. She also does her own photography and layout. Dush is consistently a winner for her feature stories in the annual Nebraska Press Convention, the annual Nebraska Press Women Convention, and she has received awards from the Society of Professional Journalists — Nebraska Pro Chapter. She has won the Jim Raglin Media Award twice. She also writes a weekly column called Personal Perspective. She says, "My career was born thanks to my oldest daughter. I went to college to help her obtain a grant [which] led into journalism and anew career." Her dream is to become a travel writer.
