JON VOLKMER, a native of Nebraska City, is Associate Professor of English and Director of Creative Writing at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. He holds an MA in Creative Writing from Denver University and a PhD in English from the University of Nebraska — Lincoln, where he earned a Distinguished Teaching Award. A prize-winning fiction writer, he also has publications in poetry, writing theory, the personal essay, and travel and feature writing. He is a regular book reviewer for the Philadelphia Inquirer and is the author of Fiction Workshop Companion (Bendall Books, 1995). Forthcoming books include a travel narrative, Eating Europe: A Meta-Nonfiction Love Story (Parlor Press, 2006) and Art of the Grain Elevator, a book of poems and the photos of Bruce Selyem (Bottom Dog Press, 2006).
