Poet WILLIAM TROWBRIDGE, an Omaha native, was Distinguished
University Professor at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri,
where he was an associate editor of The Laurel Review,
one of the Midwest's leading literary journals.
He is the author of several collections of poetry, including
O Paradise (1995), and Enter Dark Stranger (1989),
all from the University of Arkansas Press,
The Complete Book of Kong (Southeast Missouri State University Press, 2003),
and Ship of Fool (Red Hen Press, 2011).
He is also the author of three chapbooks:
The Four Seasons (Red Dragonfly P, 2001),
The Book of Kong (Iowa State UP, 1986), and
The Packing House Cantata (Camber Press, 2006).
His most recent collection is
Put This On, Please (Red Hen Press, 2014).
His poems have appeared in more than twenty anthologies and textbooks,
as well as in Bouelvard, Colorado Review,
Columbia, Crazyhorse, Gettysburgh Review, The Georgia Review, New Letters,

His awards include an Academy of American Poets Prize, a Bread Loaf
Writers' Conference scholarship, and fellowships from The MacDowell

He lives in the Kansas City area with his wife, Sue, and teaches in the University of Nebraska low-residency MFA program. He was recently appointed to a two-year term as Poet Laureate of Missouri.
