Poet, fiction writer, and essayist CAROL MUSKE DUKES was born in St Paul
and earned her BA at
Creighton University and her MA at California State University at
San Francisco. She has taught in the graduate writing programs at Columbia
University, the Iowa Writers' Workshop, the University of
California at Irvine, and the University of Virginia. She is a full professor at the
University of Southern California, teaching courses in poetry and fiction writing, and
serving as direcotor of the PhD program in creative writing.
She is the author, most recently, of
An Octave Above Thunder: New & Selected Poems (1997), an essay collection
Women & Poetry: Truth, Autobiography & The Shape of the Self (1997),
and the novel Saving St. Germ (1993).
She lives in Los Angeles with her daughter, Annie Cameron,
and husband, the actor David Dukes.
