MORDECAI MARCUS is a poet and teaches English at the University of Nebraska — Lincoln. Born in New Jersey in 1925, he grew up largely in Brooklyn and holds degrees from Brooklyn College, New York University, and the University of Kansas. He has lived in Nebraska since 1965, when he joined the faculty at UNL. His many critical articles began appearing in 1959 and have been reprinted in more than fourteen books. His own book, The Poems of Robert Frost: An Explication, appeared in 1991. As a young man, he wrote poetry but gave it up for twenty years, resuming late in 1969. Since then, he has published over 500 poems in journals plus six chapbooks, including Restorations and Pursuing the Lost. He's now at work on a book to be called A Reader's Guide to Selected Shorter Poems in English.
