DAVE MADDEN
is a PhD student at the University of Nebraska —
Lincoln, where he teaches courses in fiction and
literature and works as senior fiction reader for
Prairie Schooner. His fiction and poetry have
appeared or are forthcoming in Third Coast,
Heartlands, Mid-American Review, Beloit Fiction
Journal, and elsewhere. His story,
"The Single Father," written with Adam Peterson,
won the 2006 Sherwood Anderson Award for fiction,
as judged by Aimee Bender, and his chapbook,
The Small City —
published with designer Brett Yasko —
won a 2004 AIGA annual design award. He co-edits the
literary pamphlet The Cupboard and is
currently working on a book on taxidermy.
