SHAYNE KENNEDY is a playwright and 1994 graduate of Creighton University who now lives in Illinois. She has taught college English and now works as an audio describer for the visually impaired at the Steppenwolf and Victory Gardens theaters in Chicago. She has had readings of her work in Omaha, New York and Illinois. Her first production presented Fall of 2007 when the Angels Theatre Company in Lincoln, Nebraska, staged her full-length play Christmas Cookies (read at the Great Plains Theatre Conference in 2006). Her play St Jude and the Hopeless Cause was given a staged reading at the Metropolis Performing Arts Center in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Her newest play will be produced as part of the University of Nebraska — Omaha's "NU Ways/NU Works Festival" on March 1, 6 and 9, 2008 on the UNO campus. She plays the guitar and banjo well enough to accompany herself in public and not embarrass her kids. She has crocheted and sold a wide variety of items under the label Toasty Warm.
