This is a belated tribute to storyteller Duane Hutchinson (Lincoln) who was chosen
Artist of the Year in the 1998 Governor's Arts Awards. For the past twenty years, Hutchinson
has told stories throughout the the region, an activity he took up after serving
for eighteen years as chaplain at the University of Nebraska--Lincoln. Highly praised
for his ability to appeal to the storytellers in children, Hutchinson has inspired
many to become better listeners and speakers, and to value themselves and their
own stories.
Congratulations, Duane!
Each year, the Nebraska Arts Council gives the award to an individual artist exemplary contributions to
Nebraska. The ceremony was held in Lincoln's Cornhusker Hotel on
January 28, 1998.
