Born in Houma, LA, JOHN JANOVY, JR, is
Professor of Biological Sciences at the
University of Nebraska Lincoln, Director of Cedar Point
Biological Station, and Interim Director of the University of
Nebraska State Museum. He was educated at the University of
Oklahoma (BS, MS, PhD) and at Rutgers University (postdoctoral studies).
He has published fifty-six papers and eight books, including Keith
County Journal (1978), Yellowlegs (1980), and Back in Keith
County (1981). In his words, Janovy's work deals with
"mixtures of nature, teaching, learning, and to a certain
extent, a spiritualism that comes from time spent among the lesser
inhabitants of our planet." He writes, he says,
"to communicate the biological, scientific
information in such a way that the average citizen can understand and
appreciate the complexity of
Earth."
