Poet MARY STRONG JACKSON
lives in the panhandle of Nebraska, where she is employed
as a social worker. Her work has appeared in various small press pubications
in the United States and England, and in the anthologies:
At Our Core: Women Writing about Power (Papier-Mache Press), Times of Sorrow, Times of
Grace (Backwaters Press), and In The Arms of Words (Sherman Asher Publishing).
Her chapbook, Clippings,
was published by Pudding House Magazine, and Between Door and Frame
was published by Foothills
Publishing, as was a book length collection entitled No Buried Dogs
(available from Foothills Publishing at http://www.foothillspublishing.com).
She was commissioned by
art collector Dr Charles Hamlin from Denver, CO to compose a poem that would accompany a visual
art piece. The poem and the piece were shown at the 11th Annual Corporate Collections 07 in
Denver, Co at the Republic Plaza from February 14th-April 11th, 2007. She was one of four
Nebraska poets included in a Nebraska Education Television program featuring Unites States
Poet Laureate Ted Kooser and Nebraska Poet Laureate, William Kloefkorn. The program aired
on NETV in December 2005. Mary read at the Book Festival in Lincoln, NE in October 2006 and
will read her work again in October 2007.
