Top of the Rock for February of the new year is
Nebraska's premier storyteller, Nancy Duncan,
recipient of the 2003 Artist of the Year Award!
The award, sponsored by the Nebraska Arts Council in partnership with the Governor of Nebraska,
is given yearly to an individual artist in any discipline.
Working as a mentor, teacher and performance artist, Nancy Duncan of Omaha has developed
a national reputation as a storyteller, and has brought a number of nationally renowned
storytellers to this area as a result. Duncan is the founder of
Nebraska StoryArts, which
regularly presents the Nebraska Storytelling Festival, the Moonshell Storytelling
Festival, and other workshop opportunities. Duncan has been an extremely popular
artist in residence for the Nebraska and Iowa Arts Councils, and was a founding
spirit of the Emmy Gifford Children’s Theatre.
