JAMES CIHLAR has worked in publishing and education for many years. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, he earned his BA in English from the University of Iowa, where he studied in the Writers Workshop, and earned his MA and PhD from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He has taught at the University of Wisconsin in Stevens Point as well as at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. In 2000 he won a Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship for Poetry. His poems have been published in Prairie Schooner, Minnesota Monthly, Northeast, The James White Review, Painted Bride Quarterly, Quercus, Wisconsin River Valley Journal, and other journals. He has been anthologized in Regrets Only (Little Pear Press), Aunties: 35 Writers Celebrate Their Other Mother, edited by Ingrid Sturgis (Ballantine), Nebraska Presence (Backwaters Press), and White Ink (Demeter Press). He lives in St Paul, Minnesota, with his partner, poet William Reichard, and is the Managing Editor of Milkweed Editions.
